(4.1 (Case Study)) You are a female activist associated with the awareness campaign “How women survive domestic violence” run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. Gender violence is a very sensitive issue in society. According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-4) Report released by the Union Health Ministry, every third woman above the age of 15 years has faced domestic violence of various forms in the country. According to the Survey, 27 % of women in India have experienced physical violence since the age of 15 years. The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 clearly defines domestic violence, which includes all forms of physical, emotional, verbal, sexual and economic violence. Illiteracy is the main reason for acceptance of domestic violence. Poverty, inequality, violence and illiteracy increase the graph of female violence in India.
