A league is not practice for the final. It is how a player walks into the final already sharp. Prelims gives you a hundred and twenty minutes to take a hundred decisions, and this season is built so that on the morning of 23 May 2027 you are not finding your form. You brought it with you.
Every question, an official fact. Every elimination, measured.
Built and run by Neil sir, HCS 2021, Rank 93.
The format is the argument. A weekly hundred-question mock tests you on any one subject about six times in a year, and lets everything in between go cold. You find out you are weak in Environment in November, for a paper in May.
So we cut the year into 100 matches of 20 questions, each match a tight family of topics rather than a scatter across the syllabus. You play more often. You fail smaller. You fix faster. By the time the Simulators begin, the elimination instinct is built rather than borrowed.
A hundred matches before the one that counts.
Small matches, played often, are how a reflex is built
The league opens on 1 September 2026. The last Simulator lands three weeks clear of the exam.
| Stage | What | When |
|---|---|---|
| League stage | 100 T-20 matches, 20 questions each | From 1 September 2026 |
| Sherlocking Simulators | 10 full-length FLTs, 100 questions each | Every Sunday, 28 February to 2 May 2027 |
| The Final | UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2027 | Sunday, 23 May 2027 |
Matches go live in batches through the season, opening across subjects, so you can start with whatever you are reading right now rather than waiting your turn. Everything is in your hands well before the Simulators begin, so the last stretch is yours to plan.
How many matches a subject gets is UPSC's decision, not ours
| Block | Matches |
|---|---|
| Economy | 19 |

Economy gets nineteen matches because Economy is about eighteen percent of the real paper. Modern History gets seven because it is seven. We counted the last sixteen years, we did not guess.
We did not design the coverage. We measured it.
Every one of the 325 is printed on this page, match by match. You can count what you are buying.
The All India Sherlocking Scholarship Test is free, and it is the same thing you will be playing all season: 20 questions, 24 minutes. One T-20, exactly as it runs in the league. Instant score, All India rank and full solutions, with a verdict on every option. It can win you a scholarship — the team reviews your performance and shares a scholarship coupon.
Take the free testA series built on the old mix trains you for a paper that stopped existing in 2021. All 1,600 questions from 2011 to 2026 were taken apart, one at a time. Three things changed, and they changed everything.
“How many of the above are correct” appears zero times in every paper from 2011 to 2021. It arrived in 2022, and by 2023 it took 47 of the 100 questions. Knowing three items out of four earns nothing on these.
One appearance in the eleven years up to 2021, then 18 in 2023, 13 in 2024 and 14 in 2025.
Zero appearances across all sixteen years. What 2026 actually ran was “Consider the following assertion” followed by numbered statements, where you identify which ones support it. That is the version you will meet here.
Sixteen distinct shapes run across the season: direct single-fact, which-statements-are-correct with a code, Statement-I and Statement-II, how many of the above are correct, which pairs are correctly matched, assertion with supporting statements, term in context, odd one out, best explanation, and more besides. Three of them are ours — best inference, two-condition statement and data nugget are shapes UPSC has not run yet, each drilling a skill the paper has been visibly moving toward.
2 slots in every paper, and they sit inside that paper's own subject, because that is how the real paper asks current affairs. Never as a bolted-on block at the end. The Economy matches carry the Economy news, the Environment matches carry the Environment news, and current affairs stops being a separate subject you keep meaning to start.
It is the Sherlocking method, on screen, while the clock runs — against the real UPSC Prelims exam pattern.
Seven analyses land the moment you submit. Not a score and a rank. Seven.
How many questions you used elimination on, your elimination accuracy, and your accuracy with elimination against your accuracy without it, in percentage points. What happened when you narrowed to one option, to two, to three. And how many times you struck out the correct answer.
Tag each answer as certain, confident but unsure, an educated guess, or a random guess. Afterwards you get accuracy, marks and time for each band. The band that decides Prelims is certain and wrong: the facts you believe and should not.
Accuracy and average time per question, quarter by quarter through the paper. Slow starter, or falling away in the last quarter? Spending eighty seconds on the ones you get wrong and fifty on the ones you get right? Those are habits, and habits are fixable once you can see them.
Rank and percentile against everyone who has played that match, plus peer comparison and a pattern read that builds across the season.
A hundred read-backs, not four.
You find the leak in September, not in May
Every Sunday, 28 February to 2 May 2027

Neil sir, HCS 2021, Rank 93.
The elimination method taught here is the one he cleared with, written down and turned into a full season of questions. Sherlocking is not a slogan on this series: it is a skill the paper is built to drill and the platform is built to measure.
The clock on Prelims 2027 has already started. UPSC notifies on 13 January 2027 and sets the paper on 23 May 2027. Everything between now and then is preparation you either did or did not do.
Sherlocking Scholars League — Season 1 · 2027/28
The full brochure, including every match and every micro-topic. PDF, 17 pages, 1 MB.
The Sherlocking Scholars League is the UnlockIAS UPSC Prelims test series for the 2027 exam. Season 1 runs 100 T-20 matches of 20 questions each, followed by 10 full-length Sherlocking Simulators of 100 questions each. It is built and run by Neil sir, HCS 2021, Rank 93. The league stage opens on 1 September 2026 and the last Simulator lands on 2 May 2027, three weeks before UPSC Prelims 2027 on 23 May 2027.
The league stage opens on 1 September 2026. Matches go live in batches through the season across subjects, so you can start with whatever you are reading right now rather than waiting your turn. Everything is in your hands well before the Simulators begin on 28 February 2027.
There are 110 tests in Season 1: 100 T-20 matches of 20 questions each in the league stage, plus 10 full-length Simulators of 100 questions each. That is 3,000 questions across the season.
A T-20 match is a 20-question paper to be completed in 24 minutes. Each match covers one tight family of topics rather than a scatter across the syllabus: 18 questions across its listed micro-topics, plus 2 current-affairs questions set inside that same subject. A weekly hundred-question mock tests you on any one subject about six times in a year and lets everything in between go cold, so the league cuts the year into small matches you play often instead.
The 10 Sherlocking Simulators run every Sunday from 28 February to 2 May 2027. Each is a full-length 100-question paper on a real clock. Each Simulator mirrors one real UPSC paper’s DNA — its subject spread, its shape mix, its difficulty — so some come out Economy-heavy, some Polity-heavy, some brutal, exactly as the real years did. The tenth lands on 2 May 2027, three weeks before the exam.
It was measured, not designed. 1,600 real UPSC questions from 2011 to 2026 were taken apart one at a time and mapped to 325 micro-topics, each a subject, topic and sub-topic combination UPSC has actually set a question on. How often UPSC asks something decides how much of the season it gets, and that weighting holds all the way down to the individual match. Economy gets 19 matches because Economy is about eighteen percent of the real paper; Modern History gets 7 because it is seven.
Seven analyses land the moment you submit, not just a score and a rank. They cover elimination (including your accuracy with elimination against your accuracy without it, and how often you struck out the correct answer), confidence bands you declare before you are told the answer, accuracy and time quarter by quarter through the paper, and your rank, percentile, peer comparison and a pattern read that builds across the season.
Yes. The All India Sherlocking Scholarship Test (AISST) is free and is the same thing you will be playing all season: 20 questions in 24 minutes, one T-20 exactly as it runs in the league, with instant score, All India rank and full solutions. It can also win you a scholarship — the team reviews your performance and shares a scholarship coupon.
Sherlocking Scholars League Season 1 is ₹5,999 for the full season, against an MRP of ₹9,999. That covers all 110 tests — 100 T-20 matches and 10 full-length Simulators — together with the seven analyses after every match, All India ranking and full solutions, for the whole 2027 Prelims cycle.
UPSC will hold the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2027 on Sunday, 23 May 2027, and the notification is scheduled for 13 January 2027, per the UPSC annual calendar for 2027. The league is built backwards from that date: the last Simulator is on 2 May 2027, leaving three clear weeks for revision.
Season 1 opens 1 September 2026: 100 T-20 matches and 10 full-length Simulators, 3,000 questions in all, finishing three clear weeks before the exam.
UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2027 is scheduled for 23 May 2027, with the notification on 13 January 2027, per the UPSC Annual Calendar 2027 published by the Union Public Service Commission — upsc.gov.in . Season structure, fixture list and micro-topic coverage are from the UnlockIAS Sherlocking Scholars League Season 1 brochure, linked above. Exam dates are subject to change by UPSC; always confirm against the official notification.
