Full Answer Key EvaluatorThe UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 GS Paper 1 consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 200 marks. UPSC applies one-third negative marking — for each incorrect answer, 2/3 marks (approximately 0.66) are deducted. Questions left unanswered carry zero penalty.
For CSAT Paper 2, each correct answer carries +2.5 marks and each incorrect answer deducts 5/6 marks (approximately 0.83). CSAT is qualifying — candidates need a minimum of 33% (66.67 out of 200 marks) to qualify. CSAT marks are not added to the Prelims merit ranking; only GS Paper 1 marks determine your merit position.
