QPRep (Question Paper Representation) is UPSC's new digital portal introduced in 2026 following Supreme Court directions on examination transparency. This guide walks you through everything — from accessing the portal to filing objections against the provisional answer key.
Understanding UPSC's new transparency initiative.
The QPRep (Question Paper Representation) portal is UPSC's new digital platform introduced in 2026 as part of a transparency reform following Supreme Court directions. After the Prelims exam, UPSC has released the provisional answer key and opened the QPRep portal for candidates.
Through this portal, candidates who appeared for the exam can view their OMR sheet responses, see the official provisional answer key, check their question-wise marks, and — most importantly — file objections against any answer they believe is incorrect, supported by academic evidence.
After reviewing all objections, UPSC releases the final answer key, which is used for result calculation. This is the first time UPSC is adopting this mechanism for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination, bringing it in line with practices already followed by other bodies like NTA for NEET and JEE.
Step-by-step instructions to log in and navigate the portal.
Go to upsc.gov.in and look for the QPRep portal link. It will be available under the examination-specific section once UPSC activates it after the Prelims.
Log in using your UPSC registration number (from your Prelims application) and your date of birth as entered during the application process.
Once logged in, navigate to the QPRep or Answer Key section. You should see options to view your OMR responses, the provisional key, and the objection submission form.
What you can do on the QPRep portal once you log in.
See the exact options you marked on your OMR sheet during the exam. This is a digital representation of your scanned answer sheet.
View UPSC's provisional answer key for your question paper set (A/B/C/D). Compare each answer against what you marked.
See your marks for each question based on the provisional key — correct (+2), incorrect (−2/3, exact one-third negative marking), and unanswered (0).
Challenge any answer in the provisional key by selecting the question, providing your answer, and uploading academic evidence.
View the status of your submitted objections. Once the review process concludes, the final key reflects any accepted changes.
Follow these steps on the QPRep portal to submit your objection.
Navigate to the question you want to challenge. The portal displays each question with its provisional answer. Identify the question number carefully.
Confirm which option you selected on the OMR sheet. The portal shows both your answer and the provisional correct answer side by side.
Choose the option you believe is the correct answer. If you think the question has no correct option or multiple correct options, indicate that as well.
Attach documents or images from credible sources — NCERT textbooks, official government publications, Supreme Court judgments, or peer-reviewed journals. Include specific page numbers.
Write a clear, concise justification explaining why the provisional answer is incorrect. Reference the exact source, chapter, page, and paragraph that supports your claim.
Before submitting, review all details — the question number, your selected answer, the evidence files, and your written remarks. Ensure everything is accurate and complete.
Submit the objection and save or screenshot the confirmation page. UPSC does not individually communicate outcomes, so this is your only record of submission.
Key dates for the QPRep portal and objection window.
Exact dates will be announced by UPSC after the Prelims exam. This section will be updated with specific dates once the official notification is published.
“Soon after Exam” per PIB Delhi notification dated 18 May 2026 — exact date TBC
Closes 6:00 PM, 31 May 2026 (deadline fixed in UPSC notification)
Conducted after the objection window closes — duration at UPSC's discretion
Published after all objections are reviewed — used for final result calculation
Practical advice to make the most of the QPRep portal.
Take screenshots of your OMR responses, the provisional key, and every objection submission confirmation. These are your records if any dispute arises.
Before the portal opens, identify potentially disputed questions using coaching institute keys. Gather textbook references and scan relevant pages so you can act quickly.
Cite the exact book, edition, chapter, page number, and paragraph. Vague references like "as per NCERT" without specifics weaken your objection significantly.
NCERT textbooks, Laxmikanth's Indian Polity, official government publications, and peer-reviewed journals are considered credible. Coaching notes and Wikipedia are not accepted.
Portal traffic spikes near the deadline. Submit at least a day before the cutoff to avoid technical issues. Do not wait until the last hour.
Evidence uploads and form submissions can fail on unstable connections. Use a desktop or laptop with reliable internet rather than mobile data.
