For Australia, the same list names 'south and south western parts of Australia'. The north is not on it.

The climate explains why. NCERT's Class XI Fundamentals of Physical Geography says Mediterranean climate has hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters, because the subtropical high rules in summer and westerly winds bring rain in winter.

Northern Australia sits in a different belt. The same NCERT chapter lists 'Northern Australia' under Tropical monsoon climate (Am), where heavy rainfall occurs mostly in summer and winter is dry: the reverse pattern.

  Southern part of South Africa — NCERT's Class XII list places Mediterranean agriculture in the south-western parts of South Africa.

  The option's 'southern part' is broader wording than NCERT's 'south western parts', but it takes in that Mediterranean corner of the country. It is a Mediterranean-agriculture area, not the region the stem asks for.

Mediterranean agriculture is a type of farming tied to a climate. NCERT's Class XI text places Mediterranean climate on the west coasts of continents in subtropical latitudes, between 30° and 40°, with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters.

NCERT's Class XII text calls Mediterranean agriculture 'highly specialised commercial agriculture'. The region supplies citrus fruits; viticulture, or grape cultivation, is its speciality; olives and figs are also grown.

Its advantage, NCERT says, is that valuable fruits and vegetables grow in winter, when European and North American markets want them.
