Khelo India Youth Games 2025 will be hosted by which of the following state ?
- (1)Rajasthan
- (2)Bihar
- (3)Tamil Nadu
- (4)Madhya Pradesh
Answer
Why
Correct — option (2), Bihar.
On 21 November 2024, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced that Bihar would host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced it after meeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna.
The release called Bihar "a new addition to the Khelo India map of the country" and set the Games for April 2025. That was the position on the exam date, 2 February 2025.
The Games opened later than first announced. The Hindu reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the seventh edition by videoconference on 4 May 2025. It ran to 15 May across five Bihar districts: Patna, Nalanda (Rajgir), Gaya, Bhagalpur and Begusarai.
Two of the other options are earlier hosts: Madhya Pradesh held the 2022 edition and Tamil Nadu the 2023 edition.
The idea to remember: Madhya Pradesh (2022), Tamil Nadu (2023), Bihar (2025), and each edition's name can carry a different year from the Games themselves.
Why the others are wrong
- (1)Rajasthan — The Ministry's release of 21 November 2024 named Bihar, not Rajasthan, as host of the 2025 Youth Games.
Rajasthan's capital has hosted a different international event: RPSC's 2016 paper keyed Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, Jaipur, as the venue of the Asian Cup 2015 Table Tennis championships. That venue question is where Jaipur is the answer.
- (3)Tamil Nadu — Tamil Nadu hosted the Khelo India Youth Games 2023, held from 19 to 31 January 2024 in Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore. PIB's explainer called it the first time the Youth Games were held in South India.
The edition carrying the name 2023 was held in 2024. The next edition, carrying the name 2025, went to Bihar.
- (4)Madhya Pradesh — Madhya Pradesh hosted the fifth edition, Khelo India Youth Games 2022. It opened on 30 January 2023 and closed on 11 February 2023.
This edition too carries a year earlier than the year it was held. The next edition, KIYG 2023, went to Tamil Nadu, and the one after that, KIYG 2025, to Bihar.
Concept
The Khelo India Youth Games are a multi-sport competition run by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under its Khelo India programme. Recent editions have gone to a host state, with events spread across several cities.
The Youth Games are one of several Khelo India competitions. In January 2024, the Prime Minister listed the Khelo India Youth Games, University Games, Winter Games and Para Games as separate events.
An edition's name does not always match the year it is held. The 2022 edition was held in January–February 2023, and the 2023 edition in January 2024.
RPSC's 2024 syllabus lists "Games and Sports related activities" under Current Affairs, next to "Persons, Places and Institutions in News".
The Khelo India programme also runs a grassroots network. The Ministry's release of 21 November 2024 counted 38 Khelo India Centres, one Khelo India State Centre of Excellence and three SAI Training Centres in Bihar.
In the same release, Dr. Mandaviya said Bihar had recently showcased its capability to host major sporting events. The release noted that Bihar had just hosted the women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey in Rajgir, where India beat China to retain the title.

Common traps
- Taking the year in an edition's name as the year it was held: KIYG 2023 was held in January 2024, KIYG 2022 in January–February 2023.
- Treating an earlier host as the next one: Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu each hosted an edition before Bihar.
- Mixing up the Khelo India competitions: the Youth, University, Winter and Para Games are separate competitions, each with its own editions.
A question can name a Khelo India Youth Games edition and ask for its host state. A question can also ask for the edition's number, its host cities, or a sport included for the first time.
A question can set the Youth Games beside the University, Winter or Para Games and ask which host goes with which event.
