Concept
A wildlife sanctuary is a protected area declared under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Rajasthan's Forest Department groups its protected areas as tiger reserves, national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and conservation reserves.
Protected areas can cross district lines or overlap. The Forest Department lists Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve over Kota and Bundi, and a Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary in Bundi.
The same list gives Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve over Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Chittorgarh, and Jawahar Sagar Sanctuary over Kota, Bundi and Chittorgarh.
RPSC's 2023 Prelims syllabus lists "Biodiversity & its Conservation" under the Geography of Rajasthan. The network of sanctuaries, national parks and reserves, district by district, falls under that head.
Hadoti in south-eastern Rajasthan holds several protected areas. Shergarh (Baran) and Ramgarh Vishdhari (Bundi) are both Hadoti sanctuaries, so the region alone does not place them.
District names in these lists follow the district map. The Forest Department's list names districts such as Salumbar and Kotputli-Behror, which were not among the 33 districts of Census 2011.
