Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — B. The World Economic Forum's Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024 reports that of its top 30 scorers, 26 are high-income.
By region, 19 are in Europe and seven in Asia-Pacific, against three in the Americas and one in the Middle East and North Africa.

The report's own summary: the Europe and Asia-Pacific regions, and high-income economies in particular, have the most favourable conditions for tourism development. That is option (b).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
Low-income countries dominate the top 30 scorers — The top 30 is the reverse: 26 of the 30 are high-income economies, which leaves at most four places for every other income group combined.
(c)
The Americas and MENA account for more than half of the top 30 rankings — The Americas hold three of the top 30 places and MENA one, the United Arab Emirates. Four of 30 is nowhere near half.
(d)
Developing economies have surpassed high-income countries in tourism infrastructure — The report finds the gap still open: high-income economies outscored non-high-income ones by 56% on the overall Infrastructure and Services dimension in 2024.

Concept

The TTDI is the World Economic Forum's index of the factors and policies that let travel and tourism develop. It succeeded the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index from 2021.
The 2024 edition, released in May 2024, covers 119 economies.

Its top ten: the United States, Spain, Japan, France, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Italy and Switzerland. India ranked 39th.

The stem says global trends, but three of the four options are claims about who fills the top 30, and the report's income and regional breakdown settles those.

Option (d) is about infrastructure instead, and the report's Infrastructure and Services gap settles it.
