Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — C. Assertion is true. The National Single Window System is a digital platform where investors identify and apply for the approvals and clearances they need. The Commerce and Industry Minister launched it on 22 September 2021.

Reason is false. NSWS is a portal, not a ministry. DPIIT, in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, developed it with Invest India, and it hosts approvals granted by existing ministries and States.

A true Assertion with a false Reason is option (c).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
Both A and R are true, and R is the correct explanation of A — The Reason is false, so it cannot explain the Assertion. NSWS is a portal that carries applications to existing ministries and States, not a ministry of its own.
(b)
Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A — This option needs a true Reason. NSWS has no ministry status: DPIIT developed it with Invest India as one window onto approvals granted by ministries and States.

Concept

A single window lets a business deal with one interface instead of approaching each approving authority separately.

NSWS grew out of the Investment Clearance Cell announced in the Union Budget 2020-21. Its Know Your Approval service asks an investor about the planned business and lists the approvals it needs. Applications are then made and tracked on one dashboard.

For an Assertion-Reason item, settle each statement on its own first. Whether R explains A matters only when both are true.

Accepting the Reason because a big national initiative sounds as if it needs its own ministry, when NSWS is a portal under DPIIT.
Jumping to 'true but not the explanation' once both statements sound plausible, without first testing whether the Reason is true.
