Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — B. Prithviraj Chauhan (Prithviraj III), the Chahamana king of Ajmer, defeated Muhammad of Ghor at the First Battle of Tarain in 1191.

Muhammad returned the next year and won the Second Battle of Tarain, 1192. Prithviraj was captured and later killed, and his reign ended → option (b).

Why the others are wrong

1175 CE — 1175 is near the start of his rule, not its end. Some lists, 16 Sep 2025, 09:00, GA Q.6 among them, start his reign in 1175, others about 1177. It ended with his defeat at Tarain in 1192.

1206 CE — 1206 is the year Muhammad of Ghor died and Qutbuddin Aybak began to rule, the start of the Delhi Sultanate. Prithviraj had fallen 14 years earlier.
(d)
1210 CE — 1210 is the year Qutbuddin Aybak died, after a fall while playing chaugan (polo) at Lahore. It ends Aybak's reign, not Prithviraj's.

Concept

Prithviraj III of the Chahamana (Chauhan) dynasty ruled from Ajmer, in present-day Rajasthan. His reign is remembered for two battles with Muhammad of Ghor at Tarain, in present-day Haryana.

In 1191 Prithviraj's coalition won. In 1192 Muhammad returned and won, and Prithviraj was captured.

Start years for his reign differ between books, about 1177 in Wikipedia. The end year is fixed by the Second Battle of Tarain, 1192.

Common traps

Confusing the two Tarain battles. 1191 was Prithviraj's victory, 1192 his defeat.
Taking 1206 because it feels like the end of an era. 1206 is when Aybak's rule, and the Delhi Sultanate, began.
