Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Consider the following statements about badminton strokes: 1) Backhand Net Kill and Forehand Net Kill are examples of forecourt strokes played near the net. 2) Backhand Drive and Forehand Drive are midcourt strokes played from the middle of the court. 3) Forehand Clear is a type of rear court stroke played from the back of the court. Correct — D. Badminton strokes are grouped by the part of the court they are played from.

Forecourt, near the net: the net kill, hitting a high shuttle steeply down.
Midcourt: the drive, a flat, fast shot across the net.
Rear court: the clear, hit high to the back of the opponent's court.

Concept

Badminton strokes are named by side (forehand or backhand) and by zone. The forecourt is the area near the net, the midcourt the middle, and the rear court the back.

In the forecourt and midcourt most strokes work equally well on either side. In the rear court, players take as many strokes as possible on the forehand, and statement 3's forehand clear fits that.

Common traps

Confusing the drive with the smash. The drive is flat and fast. The smash is hit steeply down.
Assuming each stroke belongs to one side. Statements 1 and 2 pair a backhand and a forehand in the same zone.
