Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — D. The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 repeals and replaces the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. Parliament passed it in December 2023, and it came into force on 1 July 2024.

It is the evidence law among the three new criminal laws. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita replaced the IPC, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita replaced the CrPC → option (d).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
Indian Penal Code — The Indian Penal Code was replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the law on offences. The BSA deals with evidence, not crimes.
(b)
Contract Act, 1872 — The Contract Act, 1872 is still in force. It shares the year 1872 with the Evidence Act, which is what makes it a tempting decoy.
(c)
Consumer Protection Act — The Consumer Protection Act of 1986 was replaced by the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, not by a 2023 criminal-law reform.

Concept

On 1 July 2024 three new criminal laws replaced three older codes:

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 → Indian Penal Code, 1860
Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 → Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 → Indian Evidence Act, 1872

The names carry the field: nyaya (justice) for offences, nagarik suraksha (citizen protection) for procedure, sakshya (evidence) for proof.
