Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — A. Statement 2 is false because of one word: only. BRICS science cooperation has its own machinery. The 2015 Memorandum of Understanding on STI cooperation names the BRICS STI Ministerial Meeting and an STI Senior Officials Meeting among its governance structures.

Statement 1 fits the stated aims. The MoU sets out to tackle common socio-economic challenges and to co-generate new knowledge and innovation in the member countries.

Why the others are wrong

(b)
Only 2 is correct — Keeps the false statement. BRICS STI work is steered by ministerial and senior officials' meetings under the 2015 MoU, not only by the leaders' summits.
(c)
Both 1 and 2 are correct — Statement 2 fails on the word only. Science ministers and senior officials run the STI track, so the Heads of State Summit is not its sole forum.
(d)
Neither 1 nor 2 is correct — Statement 1 holds. The 2015 MoU's aims, tackling shared challenges and co-generating knowledge, describe cooperation for the members' common benefit.

Concept

BRICS cooperation runs through ministerial tracks as well as the annual leaders' summit; foreign ministers, for example, hold their own meetings.

For science, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation in Brasília on 18 March 2015, at the second BRICS STI Ministerial Meeting.

It set out a work plan for 2015–2018, including a framework for funding joint research projects.

The phrase public-good-driven innovation is the paper's own, and this card does not quote it from a BRICS document. The decisive word is only in statement 2.

Accepting statement 2 because summits are the best-known BRICS meetings, when the STI track has its own ministerial and officials' meetings.
