Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

Read loosely, R states a real rule — a server who keeps the serve does alternate boxes, so option (b) is defensible; this card follows SSC's key, which reads 'after each successful serve' strictly, since the switch follows a rally won, not a legal serve.

Why the others are wrong

Concept

A squash court has two service boxes, one in each back quarter. The server keeps one foot inside a box and hits the front wall between the service line and the out line, landing the ball in the back quarter on the other side.

The server picks a box to start. After each rally the server wins, the next serve comes from the other box.

R paraphrases a real rule loosely. The key reads it strictly: box changes are tied to winning the rally, not to a successful serve, and a server who loses the rally does not serve again.

Picking (a) because R sounds relevant. R is about which box, A about where the ball goes, so R could not explain A even if it were true.
