Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Rule: start from the fixed date and move one clue at a time.

Darjeeling: 2 March (given).
Siliguri is 3 days after Darjeeling: 2 + 3 = 5 March.
Kalimpong is 1 day before Siliguri: 5 − 1 = 4 March.

Why the others are wrong

3rd March — 3 March counts Kalimpong from Darjeeling (2 + 1) instead of from Siliguri. The clue says 1 day before Siliguri, and Siliguri is 5 March.

5th March — 5 March is Siliguri's date, not Kalimpong's. Kalimpong comes 1 day before Siliguri, so step back once more to 4 March.
(d)
6th March — 6 March moves the wrong way: it reads 'before Siliguri' as after, 5 + 1. Before means an earlier date, 5 − 1 = 4.

Concept

A date-sequence item gives one anchor date and a chain of relative clues: 'n days after', 'n days before'. Fix the anchor, then turn each clue into an addition or a subtraction, working only from a date you already know.

Here the chain runs Darjeeling → Siliguri → Kalimpong. Kalimpong is tied to Siliguri, not to Darjeeling, so Siliguri must be dated first.

Every date here falls inside March, so no month end comes into play. When a count does cross one, the length of that month decides the answer.

Key facts

'n days after' means add n to the date, and 'n days before' means subtract n.
Date each place only from a place whose date is already fixed.
