Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

Read the following statement carefully and identify the action that follows. Statement: Road accidents have increased in the city during the last six months. Course of Action: 1. Traffic police should be instructed to strictly monitor driving rules. 2. Public should be educated about road safety.

Rule: an action follows if it is practical and tackles the stated problem.

The problem is more road accidents in the city.

Action 1, strict monitoring of driving rules, works on drivers who break them.
Action 2, road-safety education, works on the public who use the roads.

Both are practical and both act on accidents, so both follow → option (a).

Why the others are wrong

Only 1 follows — Only 1 leaves out public education, but teaching road users to stay safe also acts on accidents and is practical, so Action 2 follows too.

Only 2 follows — Only 2 leaves out enforcement, but strict monitoring of driving rules is a direct, practical answer to rising accidents, so Action 1 follows too.
(d)
Neither follows — Neither would need both actions to be impractical or unrelated to accidents. Each addresses the problem, one through enforcement and one through awareness.

Concept

A course-of-action item gives a problem and proposed steps. Judge each step on its own: does it address the stated problem, and is it practical?

Steps that attack the problem from different sides can both follow. Here one works through enforcement and the other through awareness. They do not compete, so accepting one does not rule out the other.

The statement gives no cause for the rise. Neither action depends on a cause it does not state, so both can be judged on the statement alone.
