Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — B. The International Booker Prize 2025 went to Heart Lamp, short stories by Banu Mushtaq translated from Kannada by Deepa Bhasthi. The win was announced on 20 May 2025.

The prize is shared equally between author and translator, which is why option (b) names two people.

Deepa Bhasthi became the first Indian translator to win it.

Concept

The International Booker Prize goes each year to a single novel or short-story collection translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland. Since 2016 its £50,000 has been split equally between author and translator.

The older Booker Prize is a different award, for fiction written in English. Option (a) here is a winner of that other prize.

Heart Lamp is the first Kannada-language work, and the first short-story collection, to win the prize. The previous winner from an Indian language was Tomb of Sand, from Hindi, in 2022.
