Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — C. Statement 1 matches the accounts of the dance. Tippani began in the Chorwad and Veraval area of Saurashtra, among women labourers who pounded lime into floors and foundations with a tippani, a long pole ending in a wooden or iron block.

Statement 2: accounts of the dance name the dhol among its instruments, and the key accepts the statement. Both hold, so option (c).

Why the others are wrong

Only 1 correct — It drops statement 2, which the key accepts: drum accompaniment, with the dhol named among the dance's instruments, is part of Tippani.

Only 2 correct — It drops statement 1, the dance's defining origin: women ramming lime floors with the tippani in Saurashtra, the very tool that names the dance.

Concept

Tippani is a folk dance of Saurashtra in Gujarat, from the Chorwad and Veraval coast.

The tippani is a tool: a long pole, about 175 cm, fitted at the lower end with a square block of wood or iron, once used to press lime into floors and foundations.

Women workers turned the labour into a dance, facing each other in two rows and striking the floor in time as they sing.

The account checked for this card names the dhol among Tippani's instruments, with the zanz, manjira, tabla and shehnai. It names no nagara and does not say who plays.

So the nagara and the 'male drummers' in statement 2 rest on the key, not on anything that source confirms.
