Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

Rule: a conclusion follows if the statement supports it. A conclusion that runs against the statement does not.

I: violations fell after speed cameras were installed, so being watched discourages rule-breaking. I follows.

II: voluntarily means without enforcement, but the drop came with cameras, a form of enforcement. II does not follow.

Only Conclusion I follows → option (a).

Why the others are wrong

Neither I nor II follows — Neither discards I, the plain reading of the statement: fewer violations once cameras watch the roads means surveillance discourages rule-breaking.

Concept

In a statement-and-conclusion question, read what the statement links. Here it links a change (fewer violations) to a new factor (speed cameras), so a conclusion that names that factor as the reason follows.

A conclusion that credits something the statement argues against does not. If people obeyed voluntarily, the drop would not have waited for the cameras.

Strictly, the statement shows timing, not proof of cause. The key reads the drop as the cameras' effect, which is the ordinary reading of 'after the installation'.
