Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — C. Statement 1 is true. Shiva Keshavan competed at six Winter Olympics, from Nagano 1998 to Pyeongchang 2018, and was the first Indian to compete in luge at the Games.

Statement 2 is true. At Beijing 2022, alpine skier Arif Mohammad Khan became the first Indian to qualify in two events at the same Winter Games: slalom and giant slalom.

Concept

Luge is a sliding sport in which the athlete lies on the back, feet first, on a small sled. Keshavan first raced at Nagano in 1998, aged 16, then the youngest person ever to qualify for Olympic luge.

Arif Khan, from Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, was India's lone competitor at Beijing 2022 and its flag-bearer at the opening ceremony.

Do not confuse the skier with Arif Mohammed Khan, the politician who has served as a state Governor. The statement uses the skier's full name, Arif Mohammad Khan.
