Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Consider the following statements about service rules in table tennis: 1) At 10–10, service alternates every two points. 2) In the final doubles game, receiver order changes when one side reaches 5 points. Which of the above is/are correct?

Why

Correct — B. Statement 1 is wrong. Service normally changes after every two points, but from 10–10 each player serves for just 1 point in turn.

Statement 2 is right. In the last possible game of a doubles match, the pair due to receive next changes its order of receiving when one pair first scores 5 points.

Why the others are wrong

Only 1 is Correct — Statement 1 misstates deuce. From 10–10, service passes after every single point, not every two, so a choice accepting statement 1 fails.
(c)
1 and 2 are correct — Statement 1 is false, so both cannot be correct. Two-point service turns stop at 10–10, where each player serves one point at a time.
(d)
Neither 1 nor 2 is Correct — Statement 2 is true: the doubles receiving order does change when a pair reaches 5 points in the last possible game, so "neither" is wrong.

Concept

Table tennis service runs in pairs of points: after every 2 points the receiver becomes the server, whoever won the rallies.

Two situations change that. At 10–10, or when the expedite system is in force, the serving order stays the same but each player serves just 1 point in turn.

In the last possible game of a match, players change ends when one side first reaches 5 points, and in doubles the receiving pair also changes its receiving order.

Statement 2 says "final doubles game". The rules' phrase is the last possible game of a doubles match, such as the fifth game of a best-of-five.
