Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

Why

Correct — B.
Rule: a sibling of C's child is also C's child, and the word brother fixes A as male.

B is the daughter of C, so B is C's child.
A is B's brother, so A is also C's child.
A is male, so A is C's son → option (b).

Why the others are wrong

Daughter — Daughter is B's relation to C, not A's. The statement calls A a brother, which makes A male.

Father — Father puts A a generation above C. As B's brother, A sits in B's generation, one below C.
(d)
Uncle — Uncle would make A the brother of C. A is the brother of C's daughter, which makes A C's son.

Concept

A blood-relation chain is solved one link at a time. Draw C on top and B below as C's daughter, then place A beside B as her brother.

Two things decide the answer: the generation (siblings share one, so A sits with B under C) and the gender (the word brother makes A male). A male child of C is C's son.

C's gender is never given, and the answer does not need it: A is C's son whether C is the mother or the father.

Key facts

Siblings share parents, so a brother of C's daughter is C's son.
A relation word such as brother or sister fixes the gender of the person it describes.
An uncle is a parent's brother, so A would have to be C's sibling, not B's.
