Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — A. A is true. The Ministry of Rural Development records that the Prime Minister launched Mission Amrit Sarovar on 24 April 2022 "with a view to conserve water for the future".

R is how it does that. The Mission aims at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district, about 50,000 in all. Creating water bodies is the means of conserving water, so R explains A → option (a).

Why the others are wrong

Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A — R is not a side fact. Creating water bodies is the Mission's method of conserving water, so R explains A rather than merely standing beside it.
(c)
A is true, but R is false — R is true: 75 water bodies per district is the Mission's own target, and a completion date of 15 August 2023 still meets R's 'by 2024'.
(d)
A is false, but R is true — A is true: the Mission was launched explicitly to conserve water for the future, so an option calling A false fails.

Concept

Mission Amrit Sarovar was launched as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the celebration of 75 years of Independence.

Each Amrit Sarovar was to cover at least 1 acre and hold about 10,000 cubic metres of water. The work runs through existing schemes such as MGNREGS, the XV Finance Commission grants and PMKSY's watershed component.

R says by 2024. The Mission's own completion target was 15 August 2023, which falls within that deadline.
R also says construct, where the Mission speaks of developing and rejuvenating water bodies. The key reads R as true on both counts.
