Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Read the following Assertion (A) and Reason (R) carefully about-The Khelo India Youth Games (Table Tennis Doubles Finals) and choose the correct option: Assertion (A): Kavya Bhatt and Divyanshi Bhowmick dropped only one game in the girls’ doubles tournament. Reason (R): They beat Subhankrita Datta and Avisha Karmakar 3–0 in the final.

Correct — C. The Table Tennis Federation of India's report from Rajgir, 8 May 2025, gives the girls' doubles results of Kavya Bhatt and Divyanshi Bhowmick:

quarterfinal 11-4, 11-3, 11-1
semifinal 11-7, 11-6, 11-6
final 11-6, 11-9, 11-6

They dropped no game at all, so A is false. The final over Datta and Karmakar was 3-0, so R is true → option (c).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
Both A and R are true, and R is the correct explanation of A. — A is false, so no 'both true' option can stand. The pair did not drop a single game in the tournament, and dropping none is not dropping one.
(b)
Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A. — Both true fails for the same reason. A says they dropped one game, but the federation's scores show nine games won and none lost.
(d)
A is tue, butR is false. — Reversed: A is the false statement and R the true one. The final went 11-6, 11-9, 11-6, a 3-0 win, and the pair dropped no game, not one.

Concept

Assertion–Reason items ask two separate things: is each statement true, and if both are, does R explain A. Here each statement is a checkable result.

The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 were hosted by Bihar, with table tennis at Rajgir. In the girls' doubles, Kavya Bhatt and Divyanshi Bhowmick of Maharashtra won gold, beating West Bengal's Subhankrita Datta and Avisha Karmakar in the final.

Some press reports gave the final as 4-0. The federation's own result line has three games, 11-6, 11-9, 11-6, and five-game matches elsewhere in the same draw show the doubles were best of five, so R's 3-0 stands.

Trusting the 4-0 in some press reports and marking R false. The federation's scores show a three-game final.
