Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — A. The Santosh Trophy, started in 1941, is named after Sir Manmatha Nath Roy Chowdhury, the Maharaja of Santosh.

He was a former president of the Indian Football Association (IFA), and Santosh, the place in his title, is now in Bangladesh. The namesake is option (a).

Concept

The Santosh Trophy is India's national football championship for state and institutional teams, and it began in 1941. It honours the Maharaja of Santosh, a former IFA president.

The runners-up receive the Kamala Gupta Trophy, and the third-placed team the Sampangi Cup. The Durand Cup, named after a British foreign secretary, is older: it was first held in 1888.

Picking Durand because the Durand Cup is the famous old Indian football trophy. Durand named a different cup.
Reaching for a 1951 hero, Rahim or Manna, because the stem says historical figure.
