Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Correct — C. NVS-02 is a second-generation satellite for NavIC, India's regional navigation system. Its navigation payload works in the L1, L5 and S bands, supplying position and timing signals, alongside a C-band ranging payload.

GSLV-F15 launched it from Sriharikota on 29 January 2025, ISRO's 100th launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

Why the others are wrong

Concept

NavIC, formerly IRNSS, is India's own satellite navigation system. It covers India and a region of about 1,500 km around it, using satellites in geostationary and inclined geosynchronous orbits.

The NVS series is its second generation. NVS-01 was launched on GSLV-F12 in 2023, and NVS-02 was meant to replace IRNSS-1E.

The mission did not fully succeed. After a good launch, orbit raising could not be carried out because the valves admitting oxidiser to the main engine did not open, so NVS-02 never reached its planned slot. The question asks what it was built to do, which is navigation.
