Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — A. Shorten the man's side of the sentence first.

Rule: two parents of the same child are husband and wife.

The man's son's sister is the man's daughter.
The woman says this girl is her daughter too.
So both are the girl's parents, and the woman is the man's wife, option (a).

Why the others are wrong

Sister — If the woman were the man's sister, his daughter would be her niece, not her daughter.

Mother — If she were his mother, his daughter would be her granddaughter. The stem makes the girl her daughter.

Daughter-in-law — A daughter-in-law is the son's wife. Her daughter would be the son's daughter, the man's granddaughter, not the son's sister.

Concept

Long possessive chains shorten quickly. 'This man's son's sister' is a sibling of the man's son, which is the man's own daughter.

That leaves one fact: the girl is the daughter of both the man and the woman. Relation puzzles take the two parents of one child as husband and wife, so the question is settled.

The stem fixes parentage, not marriage: it says the girl is the daughter of both the man and the woman. These puzzles read two parents of one child as a married couple, and no other option describes a woman whose daughter is also this man's daughter.
