Remote-sensing inventories show Gujarat (largely because of the Great and Little Rann of Kachchh) has the largest share of India’s wetland area. National Wetland Atlas data also reveal that about 69 % of the country’s wetlands are inland while only ~27 % are coastal; thus coastal wetlands are smaller in extent than inland ones.
