Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. This paper reaches us as a candidate's response sheet saved as pictures, so we transcribed the text from those pictures, and a second reader checked every question against them; where the layout carries meaning, we show the picture too. Each answer is the key SSC marked with a green tick on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. UnlockIAS wrote the solutions.

Correct — D. The mission was announced in the Union Budget 2025–26. The Budget speech frames it as the survey, documentation and conservation of India's manuscript heritage, with academic institutions, museums, libraries and private collectors, covering more than 1 crore manuscripts.

The same paragraph adds a National Digital Repository of Indian knowledge systems for sharing. Preserve, digitise, disseminate → option (d).

Why the others are wrong

Promoting Indian languages globally — The mission's object is manuscripts, not promoting languages abroad. The Budget line speaks of surveying, documenting and conserving manuscript heritage.

Developing new libraries across India — Libraries are partners, named with museums, academic institutions and private collectors. The work is on manuscripts in existing collections, not new library buildings.

Concept

India's manuscript heritage is spread across academic institutions, museums, libraries and private collectors. A manuscript nobody has catalogued or conserved can simply be lost.

The Gyan Bharatam Mission sets out to find these manuscripts, record them, conserve them and share them through a National Digital Repository of Indian knowledge systems.

An older body, the National Mission for Manuscripts, has worked in the same field since February 2003.

Each wrong option borrows a nearby idea: languages, libraries, translation. The Budget's own verbs, survey, document, conserve, plus the digital repository, match option (d) alone.
