Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — B. The error is comprises of in segment (2).

Comprise takes its object directly, with no preposition: the whole comprises its parts. So the finance team comprises experts.

If you want the preposition, change the verb: the team consists of experts, or is made up of experts → option (b).

Why the others are wrong

(1) — The finance team is a singular collective noun, and the singular verb comprises agrees with it. Nothing in this segment is wrong.

(3) — in risk, audit, and compliance lists three parallel nouns after one preposition. The comma before and is a style choice, not an error.

Comprise means 'to be made up of'. The whole is the subject and the parts follow as a direct object: The course comprises five modules.

Consist of means the same but needs of. Comprises of mixes the two, giving comprise the of that belongs to consist.

Wiktionary's usage note treats active comprise of as generally incorrect, while recording varying acceptance in Indian and other Asian English. This item follows the standard rule.

The passive is comprised of is also criticised as tautological. Consists of or is made up of avoids the argument.
