Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

We doubt SSC's key on this question.

The Indian Navy's own report on this championship says the two teams were the Navy and the Indian Air Force, so statement 2's claim that the Navy defeated the Army is not borne out, and only statement 1 is fully supported by the source.

The answer below is still the option SSC's key marks, and we solve to that option.

Correct — C. The key accepts both statements.

Statement 1 matches the Indian Navy's own report: Eastern Naval Command hosted the 73rd Inter Services Water Polo Championship 2024-25 at the Dolphin Hill Swimming Pool, Visakhapatnam.

Statement 2 is only half supported. The report says the Navy team won, but it names the Indian Air Force, not the Army, as the other team. SSC's key still reads both as correct → option (c).

Why the others are wrong

Inter Services championships are contests among teams of the armed forces. This edition doubled as a trial, used to select the Services team for the 77th Senior National Aquatics Championship 2024.

It was held on 15 and 16 April 2024, and Rear Admiral K Venkatraman, Flag Officer Submarines, presented the trophy to the Navy team.

Read statement 2 against the source. The Navy's report names two teams, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force, and says the Navy won. It does not mention the Army.

SSC's key still marks both statements correct, so that is the answer the key gives.
