Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — A. A creed is a statement of beliefs, especially religious beliefs, or a set of principles that guides someone's actions.

It is spelt C-R-E-E-D: one syllable, with the long 'ee' sound written as double e, as in need, greed and breed → option (a).

The word comes from Latin credo, 'I believe', a form of credere, the verb behind credible and credit.

Why the others are wrong

Creade — Creade is not a word. The 'ea' of bead can spell the same vowel sound, but creed takes ee, and it has no final e.

Crid — Crid would be read with the short i of kid, not the long ee that creed has. The vowel is spelt wrong.
(d)
Credd — Credd doubles the wrong letter. Creed doubles its vowel, not its final consonant, and Credd would be read with the short e of bed.

Concept
