Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — B. Statement 1 is true. MISHTI (Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats & Tangible Incomes) is a mangrove plantation programme for the coastline, and its name carries the income aim.

Statement 3 is true. The Budget 2023-24 speech said MISHTI would run "through convergence between MGNREGS, CAMPA Fund and other sources".

Statement 2 is false. The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change launched it. That leaves 1 and 3.

Why the others are wrong

Concept

MISHTI was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 for mangrove plantation along the coastline and on salt pan lands, wherever feasible.

The Environment Ministry launched it on World Environment Day, 5 June 2023. A February 2024 Lok Sabha reply says it envisages restoring about 540 sq km of mangroves across 9 States and 3 Union Territories over five years from 2023-24.

Convergence means the money comes from existing schemes: MGNREGS, the CAMPA fund and other sources.

MGNREGS belongs to the Ministry of Rural Development, which is what makes statement 2 tempting. That ministry's scheme helps pay for MISHTI, but it does not run it.
