Correct — B. Fugdi is a folk dance of Goa, danced by women, which is the state option (b) names.

The dancers form a circle or a row and move to their own singing and clapping — the dance carries no instrumental accompaniment — with the tempo rising as it goes on.

It belongs to the festival calendar of Goa and the wider Konkan coast, performed before the deity at Ganesh Chaturthi and on the sacred ground during the Dhalo festival.

Why the others are wrong

Uttar Pradesh — Uttar Pradesh's folk forms come from the Braj region — Raslila and Charkula, the latter danced with a tiered lamp balanced on the head. Fugdi is not part of that repertoire.

Kerala — Kerala's women's circle dance is Thiruvathirakali, danced around a lamp. It answers to a similar description but it is a separate Malayali tradition.

Goa and the Konkan give Fugdi, Dhalo and Dekhni. Fugdi and Dhalo are women's dances built on singing and clapping, tied to the Hindu festival season of the coast rather than to a court or a temple stage.

Set that against the neighbouring classical and semi-classical forms — Kathakali and Mohiniyattam in Kerala, Yakshagana in coastal Karnataka — which are theatre, with costume and an orchestra.

Fugdi is danced across the Konkan belt, so coastal Maharashtra performs it too. The key marks Goa, the state the form is identified with, and that is the answer the page carries.
