Correct — D. The IPL 2023 final was staged at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rain wiped out the scheduled day, 28 May, and the match was pushed to the reserve day, 29 May 2023, the first time an IPL final had been moved by weather.

Chennai Super Kings then chased a Duckworth-Lewis-Stern target of 171 in 15 overs against Gujarat Titans and won by five wickets for a fifth title. The host city is option (d).

Why the others are wrong

Mumbai — Mumbai hosted the inaugural Women's Premier League earlier in the same 2023 season, and that is where the mix-up usually starts. The IPL final itself was played in Ahmedabad.

Concept

The IPL final venue is allotted by the BCCI before the season, not decided by which teams reach it, so the winner's home city tells you nothing about where the match was played.

Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium at Motera is the world's largest cricket stadium by seating capacity, at about 1,32,000, which is why it draws the marquee fixtures.

SSC dates sports questions tightly, so the season and the stage both matter when you read the stem.

A final that moves to a reserve day is worth remembering as a fact in its own right, because that detail is what makes the 2023 final distinctive and it is the sort of hook SSC hangs a later question on.
