Why

Correct — C. Neeraj Chopra won the javelin at the Diamond League Final in Zurich in September 2022, becoming the first Indian to win the Diamond League trophy.

The other three are genuine Indian medallists, but from wrestling, weightlifting and sprinting of an earlier era. The Diamond League is a track-and-field circuit, which removes two of them outright and leaves option (c).

Why the others are wrong

Bajrang Punia — Wrestling is not on the Diamond League programme, which is athletics only. Bajrang Punia is a freestyle wrestler and won bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

PT Usha — PT Usha was a track athlete of the 1980s, remembered for finishing fourth in the 400 m hurdles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She was long retired by 2022.

Mirabai Chanu — Weightlifting is not an athletics event. Mirabai Chanu won silver in the 49 kg class at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which is her headline result.

Concept

The Diamond League is World Athletics' season-long circuit of one-day meetings. Athletes collect points across the meetings, and the leaders in each event qualify for the final, where the winner takes the Diamond Trophy.

Zurich hosted the 2022 final. Chopra's win there came a year after his javelin gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, India's first Olympic gold in athletics, and months after his silver at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene.

The Tokyo Games were held in 2021 but keep the name Tokyo 2020, which is why his Olympic gold is dated both ways in different question papers.
