Correct — D, Both 1 and 2. The commission accepts both statements, and the solid ground beneath the answer is the agreement itself. The India–Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement was signed on 2 April 2022 by India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, and Australia's Trade Minister, Dan Tehan, and it entered into force on 29 December 2022. It is an interim, early-harvest agreement — deliberately narrower and quicker than a full trade treaty — concluded so that the two countries could liberalise trade at once and then build on it towards the fuller Australia–India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).
