Manav is documented as India's first completely indigenous 3D-printed humanoid robot, developed by Diwakar Vaish and his team as Head of Robotics and Research at the A-SET Training and Research Institutes in New Delhi. It was built in late 2014 and early 2015 and unveiled at that season's college technology festivals, and Livemint carried it under the headline 'Meet Manav, India's first 3D-printed humanoid robot' on 28 January 2015. The name itself is the memory hook — manav is Hindi for 'human', which is exactly what a humanoid robot is meant to resemble.
