MACE (Major Atmospheric Cherenkov Experiment) works from the ground. It detects very-high-energy gamma rays through the faint Cherenkov light their particle showers give off in the atmosphere.
SPHEREx lifted off at 8:10 pm PDT on 11 March 2025, which was already 12 March in UTC and in India. Reports giving either date describe the same launch.
