Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

Why

Correct — B. Bhutan calls itself Druk Yul. 'Druk' is the thunder dragon of Bhutanese tradition and 'yul' means land, so the name reads 'Land of the Thunder Dragon'.

The same dragon runs across the national flag, and the king's title, Druk Gyalpo, means 'Dragon King' → option (b).

Why the others are wrong

Nepal — Nepal is known for Mount Everest (Sagarmatha). Its flag of two stacked pennants carries a moon and a sun, not a dragon.

Sri Lanka — Sri Lanka is the island often called the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. Its flag carries a lion holding a sword, not a dragon.
(d)
Maldives — The Maldives is a nation of coral atolls in the Indian Ocean. Nothing in its name or national symbols refers to a dragon.

Concept

'Land of the Thunder Dragon' is a translation, not a coaching nickname. Bhutan's own name for itself, Druk Yul, means exactly that.

The dragon is everywhere in the state's symbols. A white druk stretches across the flag, and the monarch is the Druk Gyalpo, the Dragon King.

Bhutan borders four Indian states: Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Meghalaya, just south of Assam, does not touch it.

Picking Nepal because it is the better-known Himalayan neighbour: the dragon belongs to Bhutan's own name.
