Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — A. The AIFF released its 2024-25 competitions calendar on 6 February 2024. It lists the Durand Cup for 26 July – 31 August 2024, the dates statement 1 gives.

Statement 2 fails on the month. The same calendar puts the Junior Girls National Football Championship (Tier 1 and 2) at 15–31 July 2024 and I-League 3 at 1 August – 30 September 2024. They never share a month, so statement 1 stands alone: option (a).

Concept

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) sets Indian football's season. Its executive committee approved the 2024-25 competitions calendar in February 2024.

The senior men's season opened with the Durand Cup in late July, followed by the Indian Super League from 14 September and the I-League from 19 October 2024.

The Junior Boys and Junior Girls national championships came first, in July, with the sub-junior championships in August.

The stem asks about the calendar, not the kick-off. The 133rd Durand Cup actually began on 27 July 2024, a day after the calendar date, and ended on 31 August with NorthEast United beating Mohun Bagan in the final.

Because the stem says as per the AIFF calendar, statement 1 is judged against the published 26 July date.

Marking statement 1 false because the tournament kicked off on 27 July: the stem asks what the AIFF calendar says.
Assuming youth and third-tier events run together: the calendar put the Junior NFC in July and I-League 3 in August and September.

The Durand Cup also appears at 25 Sep 2024, 09:00, GA Q.23, which asks where it began in 1888 (keyed Shimla), and at 11 Sep 2024, 12:30, GA Q.18, where it is the odd one out among domestic cricket trophies.
