SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Correct — C. In Haryana the folk songs themselves are popularly called Raganis. The name recalls the classical raga–ragini scheme, but the songs have nothing in common with it, which is the point of the stem's 'despite'.

As a performance form, Ragini was popularised by Pandit Lakhmi Chand. The popular name covers Haryana's folk songs as a class, not one occasion's songs → option (c).

Concept

Ragini is also a folk performance form of Haryana, sung in the local dialect. The stem's point is naming: 'Ragani' sounds classical, yet the songs have no link to the raga–ragini system of Hindustani music.

The classical raga–ragini system was a medieval way of grouping melodies as male ragas with their female raginis. Haryana's Raganis share the word, not the system.
