Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Why

Correct — C. The India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway is being built to link Moreh in Manipur, through Myanmar, with Mae Sot in Thailand.

Its partners are Myanmar and Thailand, both Southeast Asian countries and both members of ASEAN → option (c).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
Bangladesh and Bhutan — Bangladesh and Bhutan are South Asian neighbours, not Southeast Asian. With Nepal and India they make up BBIN, a separate grouping whose Motor Vehicle Agreement was agreed at Thimphu in 2015.
(b)
Nepal and Bhutan — Nepal and Bhutan are Himalayan neighbours in South Asia, and neither lies on the route. The highway leaves India eastwards from Moreh, into Myanmar.
(d)
Nepal and Bangladesh — Nepal and Bangladesh are both South Asian. The stem asks for two Southeast Asian countries, and of the names offered only Myanmar and Thailand fit.

Concept

India's north-east is its land gateway to Southeast Asia, and the Trilateral Highway is a road project built on that idea under India's Look East policy.

A highway from Moreh to Mae Sot via Myanmar was first proposed at a trilateral ministerial meeting in Yangon in April 2002.

India has also proposed extending it to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.

The stem's own phrase, Southeast Asian, removes three options at once: Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal are all in South Asia.

Common traps

Picking a BBIN pair because those countries also have road agreements with India. They are South Asian, and the stem asks for Southeast Asian.
Forgetting that Myanmar is the land bridge. Any Indian road to Thailand has to cross it.

Here SSC names a connectivity project and asks for its partners, and the stem's word Southeast Asian does half the elimination.
