Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. Correct — C. The Energy Transition Index (ETI) is published by the World Economic Forum in its report Fostering Effective Energy Transition, produced in collaboration with Accenture.

The 2025 edition, an Insight Report dated June 2025, assesses 118 countries. Sweden ranks first with a score of 77.5, and India 71st. That is option (c).

Why the others are wrong

IRENA — IRENA, the International Renewable Energy Agency, publishes its own World Energy Transitions Outlook. The overlapping title is the trap: the ETI belongs to the World Economic Forum.

IEA — The IEA publishes the World Energy Outlook, a scenario report rather than a country ranking. The ETI 2025 report carries the World Economic Forum's name, with Accenture.

UNDP — UNDP publishes the Human Development Report and its Human Development Index. It has no role in the Energy Transition Index, which the Forum builds with Accenture.

Concept

The ETI scores each country on two halves.

System performance covers the security, equity and sustainability of today's energy system. Transition readiness covers the enablers: regulation, infrastructure, education, innovation and investment.

In the 2025 edition, 77 of the 118 countries improved their scores, and Sweden, Finland and Denmark kept the top three places.

The stem says Global Energy Transition Index. The report's own name for the ranking is the Energy Transition Index, published in Fostering Effective Energy Transition 2025.
