Where this paper and its answers come from

SSC does not publish CGL question papers or a public answer key. From 2025 the candidate response sheet prints every question and option as a picture, so the text here is transcribed from those pictures for this shift and checked against them independently; where the layout carries meaning, the picture is shown as well. Each answer is the key SSC colour-marked on that sheet. SSC released a tentative key for challenge and later its final one, both only to candidates behind a login, and the sheet does not say which of the two it carries. The solutions are written by UnlockIAS.

Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H are sitting around a circle facing the center. C is second to the right of A. E is opposite C. F is to the immediate left of E. B is to the immediate right of A. G is to the immediate left of D. Who is sitting to the right of D?

Why

Correct — D.
Rule: facing the centre, right is anticlockwise.
Number the seats 1 to 8 anticlockwise: right is +1, left is −1.

A = 1, B (immediate right of A) = 2, C (second right of A) = 3.
E (opposite C) = 7, and F (immediate left of E) = 6.

Seats 4, 5 and 8 remain for D, G and H.
G is on D's immediate left, and D = 4 or 8 would put G on C or E.
So D = 5, G = 4, H = 8.

The seat on D's right is 6: F → option (d).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
H — H takes seat 8, between E and A. It lands on D's right if F is wrongly put on E's right, a mix-up of directions.
(b)
U — U is not one of the eight people named, A to H, so U cannot sit anywhere in this circle.

B — B sits on A's immediate right, seat 2. D is at seat 5, with C and G between them.

Concept

In a circle, left and right depend on which way people face. Facing the centre, your right hand points anticlockwise round the table, seen from above. Facing outward, the two swap.

Pick one direction, number the seats that way, and turn every clue into arithmetic: right is +1, left is −1, and opposite is +4 in a circle of eight. Place the fixed clues first and fill the gaps last.

The question asks who sits to the right of D, without the word immediate. The key reads it as the next seat on D's right, which is F.
