Why

Correct — C. Under PMAY-G the unit assistance is a centrally sponsored cost shared with the states, and in plain areas that share is 60:40 between the Centre and the State.

The paired figure is 90:10 for the North-Eastern and the Himalayan States. The terrain word in the stem is what decides the ratio, so read it before you pick.

Why the others are wrong

(a)
30 : 70 — 30:70 matches no PMAY-G funding pattern. It also inverts the split, leaving the State with the larger share, which this scheme does not do.
(b)
90 : 10 — 90:10 is a real PMAY-G ratio, but for the North-Eastern and Himalayan States. The stem specifies plain areas, so this is the right number in the wrong place.
(d)
40 : 60 — 40:60 reverses the plain-area split and puts 60 per cent on the State. In plain areas the Centre carries the larger share.

Concept

PMAY-G is the rural housing scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development, and it replaced the Indira Awaas Yojana. It pays a fixed unit assistance to an eligible household to build a pucca house.

Because it is a centrally sponsored scheme, the Centre and the State split that cost. The split is 60:40 in plain areas and 90:10 in the North-Eastern and Himalayan States, where construction is costlier and state finances thinner.

The amount itself differs the same way: Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly states, difficult areas and IAP districts.

Do not carry these figures across to the urban arm. PMAY-Urban is a separate scheme under a different ministry with its own funding pattern.
