Correct — C. The BCCI's head office is in Mumbai, at the Cricket Centre beside the Wankhede Stadium at Churchgate.

The board was founded in 1928 and runs every level of organised cricket in India, from the Ranji Trophy to the national teams and the Indian Premier League.

This is straight location recall, so store the body with its city the way you would store a ministry with its bhavan.

Why the others are wrong

Kolkata — Kolkata has Eden Gardens and the Cricket Association of Bengal, which is a state association. A famous ground is not the national board's office.

Chennai — Chennai hosts the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and the stadium at Chepauk, both prominent in Indian cricket, but the BCCI's own office is not there.

Concept

The BCCI is not a government department. It is a registered society that has controlled Indian cricket since 1928 and funds itself, largely from broadcast rights and the IPL.

It is India's member body at the International Cricket Council and it selects the national teams.

Because it is private, its office follows its own history rather than the rule that puts most sports federations in the capital.

The domestic competitions it runs include the Ranji Trophy, the Duleep Trophy, the Deodhar Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
