Why

Correct — D. The baulk line is a kabaddi marking: one line in each half of the court, drawn parallel to the mid-line.

It is the raider's obligation line. A raid counts only once the raider has crossed it — a raider who turns back before reaching it scores nothing.

Further from the mid-line lies the bonus line, worth a point when the defending side still has six or more players on the mat. Both lines belong to option (d).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
Tennis — Tennis marks a baseline, service line and centre service line, with singles and doubles sidelines. No line on a tennis court is called a baulk line.
(b)
Badminton — Badminton uses short and long service lines either side of a centre line. Its vocabulary of service courts and boundary lines never includes a baulk line.
(c)
Kho-Kho — Kho-kho is the near miss, being the other indigenous game here. Its court is marked by a central lane, cross lanes and two poles, and nothing on it is a baulk line.

Sport questions in General Awareness turn on court vocabulary: a term is printed and you name the game it belongs to.

A kabaddi court is split by a mid-line. Each half then carries a baulk line, and beyond that a bonus line. Together they decide whether a raid was legal and whether it earned anything extra.

Learn a sport by its markings and its scoring terms in the same sitting, because SSC asks the two interchangeably.

"Baulk line" is not unique to kabaddi — English billiards marks one too. No cue sport appears among these options, so the ambiguity never bites here, but the term on its own is not a fingerprint.

Common traps

Reading baulk as a billiards-only word and ruling kabaddi out on that alone.
Confusing the baulk line with the bonus line, which is the one further from the mid-line.
Picking kho-kho because it is the other indigenous Indian game on the list.
