The table shows the sales (in units) of a company for different cities in the months of June and July, 2022. Study the table and answer the question that follows. Correct — B. The stem is an image: a table of a company's sales in units for June and July 2022 across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune, asking for the difference between Delhi's June sales and Chennai's July sales.

Delhi, June column = 252
Chennai, July column = 247
252 − 247 = 5

That is option (b).

Why the others are wrong

(a)
155 — Option (a) is 155, a gap no two cells of this table produce. Its entries run from 195 to 362, and no pair of them differs by 155.
(c)
30 — Option (c) is 30 — Chennai's June figure (362) minus Delhi's July figure (332). It reads the right two cities with their months swapped.
(d)
80 — Option (d) is 80, Delhi's July (332) minus Delhi's June (252). That compares one city across two months instead of the two cities the stem names.

Concept

A table item of this shape is won on reading, not on arithmetic. The stem names two different cities in two different months — Delhi in June, Chennai in July — and the only work is one subtraction.

The table gives June and July 2022 sales in units: Delhi 252 and 332, Mumbai 325 and 248, Chennai 362 and 247, Kolkata 245 and 195, Pune 218 and 284.

Fix the row first, then the column. Swapping either one produces a number that is also on the option list.

The wrong options are built out of real cells of the table, so a mis-read still lands on something you can tick. That is the whole difficulty of the item.

Key facts

Delhi sold 252 units in June 2022 and 332 units in July 2022.
Chennai sold 362 units in June 2022 and 247 units in July 2022.
The difference the question asks for is 252 − 247 = 5.
