Correct — B. The first Kabaddi World Cup was organised in Mumbai in 2004, and India won it, beating Iran in the final.

This is the standard-style World Cup — the seven-a-side game played on a rectangular court, the version used at the Asian Games. Keep it apart from the circle-style Kabaddi World Cup, a separate competition hosted in Punjab from 2010.

Why the others are wrong

Hyderabad — Hyderabad did not host it. It is the sort of plausible metro that gets picked by feel — the 2004 tournament was held in Mumbai.

Concept

Kabaddi runs in two competition families, and questions live in the gap between them.

Standard style is the seven-a-side game on a rectangular court, played at the Asian Games and in the Pro Kabaddi League. Its World Cup began in Mumbai in 2004.

Circle style is the outdoor Punjabi version played in a circular field, with its own World Cup hosted in Punjab from 2010. A stem that names a year or a venue is separating these two.

The stem's ordinal, 1st, is doing the work. Later editions of the standard-style World Cup were also held in India, so a candidate who remembers only that India hosted kabaddi World Cups gains nothing.
